In the Launch program for rising 9th and 10th grade students will leverage research and technology to find solutions to current problems in a variety of scientific fields alongside WPI’s renowned faculty. The Frontiers program, running for over 40 years, is a residential, overnight program for rising 11th and 12th grade students who want to explore STEM through a collegiate lens. They also offer STEM programs for middle schoolers and programs just for girls.

UNAGB’s Summer Institute in Global Leadership
The United Nations Association of Greater Boston’s Summer Institute in Global Leadership brings international issues to life for teens in the Greater Boston area. Facilitated at locations such as Harvard University, Belmont Day School, and Simmons University, students hear from experts in the field, receive training from professional negotiators, and end the week with a Model UN simulation. Each week, students are introduced to a challenging global problem relevant to the world today, such as climate change, human rights, or global health. As they uncover facts, hear from influential guest speakers, and discover unique perspectives on the problem, students emulate the role of civic leaders eager to make the world a better place. By the end of the week, students have become experts on the issue and are ready to develop solutions. Using Model UN as a platform for debate, students step into the role of international leaders from different nations to negotiate solutions to be voted on. Programs are open to students from grades 5 through 12, depending on the program week. This event is not owned, controlled, supervised, or sponsored by Harvard University or any of its schools or programs.

UMass Boston Upward Bound
Upward Bound is an intensive, year-round college-preparatory program. Our mission is to assist low-income, first-generation college bound high school students in the successful completion of secondary education and prepare them academically and socially for enrollment and completion of higher education. This is accomplished by providing participants with rigorous and nurturing academic courses; tutoring services; college-preparatory workshops; academic, college, and financial aid advising; career exploration; leadership opportunities; and cultural enrichment. Upward Bound offers services to students through an after-school program and monthly cohort meetings at UMass Boston during the school year and a six-week residential academic program at Anna Maria College during the summer.

UMass Boston – Noble & Greenough Math and Science Upward Bound
The UMass Boston-Noble and Greenough School Upward Bound Math-Science Program (UBMS) is year-round program, serving 72 high school students with promising academic records and a desire to improve their future prospects. UBMS specifically identifies students interested in math and science who wish to pursue advanced study and careers in related fields. Our students come from Lawrence, Massachusetts, primarily from Lawrence High School. In addition to meeting family income and educational qualifications, candidates must demonstrate the potential to succeed in an accelerated math/science program, as well as the ability and desire to work hard.

U-Design at BU
U-Design is a fun, exciting science and engineering program for kids who are currently in grades 6 – 9 at time of registration. It is a hands-on laboratory and workshop experience that gives you the opportunity to learn about science and technology by engaging in the real work of scientists and engineers: design, exploration, experimentation, and invention.

Trinity Education for Excellence Program (TEEP)
Empowering students to achieve excellence, both inside and outside of the classroom. At the heart of TEEP is a 5 week intensive summer program during which rising 7th and 8th graders focus on academics in the morning (math, language arts, music, fine art, and computer skills) and enrichment activities, like field trips, in the afternoon. This is a tuition-free, out-of-school-time character and leadership development program available to Massachusetts residents.

Environmental Science Program
The Environmental Science Program is open to students who will be entering grades 7, 8, 9, or 10 by September 2016. The Environmental Science program combines fun outdoor activities with learning about the environment. Each year it builds on the “peer education” principle by having the student leaders design, develop, and deliver the materials that the students use.

Empow Studios
Empow Studios is open to children who have completed grades 1 to 8 at the time of the session. Empow runs two types of camps: Tech & Design Camps and Minecraft Camps. Tech & Design camps feature robotics, 2D & 3D video game design, virtual reality (VR) game design, animation, programming / coding, 3D modeling & printing, audio engineering, and music production. Minecraft camps feature modding, electrical engineering (via redstone circuits), architecture, game design, and world creation.

Upward Bound (UB) at Suffolk University is a federally funded program under the Department of Education that seeks to increase college access and educational opportunities for first-generation and/or low-income students. Our focus is on college acceptance and attendance, and all students are supported through graduation from high school. Suffolk University Upward Bound services a total of 65 students from 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade each academic school year. MEDscienceLAB offers students interested in biotech, biology, or medicine inspiring, immersive, hands-on lab and clinical experience that tie the essential role of research to clinical medicine. The LEAH Project
The Leaders through Education, Action and Hope (LEAH) Project is a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), college access, and career readiness program for Boston area youth typically underrepresented in STEM fields (low-income youth, youth of color, first generation college youth). The LEAH Project aims to diversify the STEM workforce by engaging youth of color in dynamic STEM, college readiness, and workforce development programming that empowers them to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM fields. Participating youth have access to a variety of STEM-focused paid internship opportunities including LEAH’s hallmark STEM teaching internships, LEAH Knox Scholars Biomedical Research internships, and general STEM internships.

Founded in 1989, PROMYS is an intensive summer program where strongly motivated high school students explore the creative world of mathematics. Boston University RISE-Research in Science and Engineering
Students who are passionate about the sciences and currently in their junior year of high school are invited to apply for the Research in Science & Engineering (RISE) program. Spend six weeks conducting university laboratory research with some of the nation’s brightest scientific minds while advancing your STEM knowledge and skills. RISE is open to both commuter and residential students and provides two research tracks: Internship and Practicum. Students can either commute or live on campus.

Crimson Summer at Harvard University
Over the course of three consecutive summers, 30 students from public schools in Boston, Cambridge and Somerville engage in a stimulating mix of classes, projects, and cultural activities as they prepare for success in college and beyond. Students live on campus during the week and return home on the weekends. The program is free and students receive a stipend. Upon completing the 3 year program, students receive a $3,000 scholarship.

HMS MEDScience Summer is a one-week summer science course for high school students held at Harvard Medical School. Work a week-long shift in the MEDscience ‘Emergency Room’ at Harvard Medical School. Train in our state-of-the-art medical simulation emergency room to evaluate, diagnose and treat acutely ill patients in our immersive, one-week, full-day program. Learn and practice clinical skills like suturing, intubation, and inserting IV’s. Open to international students.
