LLCipher at MIT Lincoln Labs
LLCipher workshop is a one-week program that introduces high school students to cryptography, an approach to securing data. US students and permanent residents only, students must have an interest in mathematics or cyber security.
MIT Lincoln Labs- Laboratory Radar Introduction for Student Engineers (LLRISE)
The Lincoln Laboratory Radar Introduction for Student Engineers (LLRISE) program is a summer workshop teaching students how to build small radar systems. This summer STEM program is a FREE two-week project-based enrichment program for outstanding students currently in their junior year in high school. This workshop is typically held the end of July.
Students will gain an in-depth experience in building small radar systems. Participants will be challenged to build a Doppler and range radar by using creative problem-solving strategies. This hands-on program allows students to work with highly talented scientists and engineers.
MathRoots at MIT
√mathroots is a 14-day mathematical talent accelerator summer program hosted by MIT PRIMES for high-potential high school students from underrepresented backgrounds or undeserved communities who are interested in exploring creative topics in mathematics and problem solving. For US citizens or students attending high school in the US. Program is free but students must pay for their own transportation.
MIT DynaMIT
DynaMIT is a completely free, week-long science program for economically-disadvantaged middle school students hosted on the MIT campus. The program has different dates for rising sixth and seventh graders and for rising eighth and ninth graders.
MIT Think
THINK is a science, research, and innovation program for high school students. Rather than requiring students to have completed a research project before applying, THINK caters to students who have done extensive research on the background of a potential research project and are looking for additional guidance in the early stages of their project. The program is organized by a group of undergraduates at MIT. For US residents, citizenship not required, but students need to live in the US. Students are funded up to $1,000 for their research.
MIT Educational Studies Program
The Educational Studies Program (ESP) runs several educational programs designed to instill a love of learning.
Programs consist of classes taught by volunteers, most of whom are MIT undergraduates juggling a full course load as well as other extracurriculars. Teachers decide themselves what they’ll teach, so our class topics go beyond what is usually taught in school. While some classes are very challenging academically, others involve fun activities like arts and crafts, and still others are very silly or have a nerdy twist. Research Science Institute-CEE
A summer science & engineering program that combines on-campus course work in scientific theory with off-campus work in science and technology research. Program meets at MIT.
Shine for Girls
Through kinesthetic learning, students combine action and intellect to more effectively understand and retain material. More importantly, girls become excited about math, and change their attitudes about their own potential. This program meets at MIT.
University of Wisconsin Engineering Summer Program
Engineering Summer Program (ESP) is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors to engage in a free, three-week residential program with interactive programming similar to a first year engineering experience at UW-Madison. Students will participate in hands-on workshops, visit industry sites, go on field trips, and receive mentoring from faculty.
University of Wisconsin Virtual Engineering Summer Program
The Virtual Engineering Summer Program is designed for rising 9th and 10th grade students to partake in a free, one-week online program focused on exploring the field of engineering. Virtual ESP provides an opportunity to explore what being an engineer means and experience engineering at a surface level.
Women’s Technology Program-MIT
The MIT Women's Technology Program (WTP) is a rigorous four-week summer academic and residential experience where female high school students explore engineering through hands-on classes, labs, and team-based projects.
Academically Interested Minds (AIM) at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan
AIM is an intensive academic experience during which students will attend classes in Calculus, Chemistry, Engineering Physics and work in groups on a specific Case Study. Students will also have the opportunity to be introduced to various opportunities available in the STEM field. This is a residential program.
iD Tech Camps
"At iD Tech Camps, students ages 7-17 learn to code, design video games, mod Minecraft, create with Roblox, engineer robots, model and print 3D characters, work with AI, build laptops, learn about cybersecurity, and more! Summer programs held at MIT and 150+ locations nationwide."

Beaver Works Summer Institute-MIT Lincoln Laboratory, School of Engineering
The MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) is a rigorous, world-class STEM program for talented students who will be entering their senior year in high school. The four-week program teaches STEM skills through project-based, workshop-style courses.
BioBuilder-Apprenticeship Challenge
The High School Apprenticeship Challenge is an eight-week program held from mid-March through May that prepares Boston-area juniors and seniors for a paid internship in the life sciences. The Apprenticeship focuses on building technical knowledge, lab techniques, research-based thinking and professional skills.
Boston Architectural College: Summer Academy
High School Design Exploration: design, model making, drawing, photography. Summer Academy explores the fields of architecture and spatial design. There is a tuition fee, but scholarships are available.
Boston University-Artemis Project
Artemis is a five-week summer program for rising 9th grade girls focused on computer science. $100 registration fee, free otherwise including lunch. All materials must be received by May 1.

Boston University's Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists (PROMYS)
Founded in 1989, PROMYS is an intensive summer program where strongly motivated high school students explore the creative world of mathematics. Each summer, a vibrant mathematical community of students, undergraduate counselors, and research mathematicians gathers on the campus of Boston University for six weeks of rigorous mathematical activity.
Broad Institute Summer Scholars Program
Students are matched with Broad scientists to conduct original, cutting-edge research projects in areas such as: cancer biology, psychiatric disease, chemical biology, computational biology, infectious disease, and more. Must be a Boston area high school student to participate.
Boston University RISE-Research in Science and Engineering
Students who are passionate about the sciences and currently in their junior year of high school are invited to apply for the Research in Science & Engineering (RISE) program. Spend six weeks conducting university laboratory research with some of the nation’s brightest scientific minds while advancing your STEM knowledge and skills. RISE is open to both commuter and residential students and provides two research tracks: Internship and Practicum. Students can either commute or live on campus.
Carnegie Mellon Summer Academy for Math and Science
The program allows students to develop a deeper understanding of STEM via traditional classroom instruction, through hands-on projects, and sustained engagement with world-renowned faculty and skilled staff mentors. In addition to their academic experiences, students also have the opportunity to collaborate and develop meaningful relationships with peers from across the country. Program is hybrid with an online and 4-week residency component.
Cornell Catalyst Academy
CATALYST Academy is a one-week program for rising high school juniors and seniors from underrepresented backgrounds who desire to learn about engineering and careers within an interactive milieu.
Cornell Curie Academy
CURIE Academy is a one-week program for high school girls who excel in math and science. The focus is on rising juniors and seniors who may not have had prior opportunities to explore engineering, but want to learn more about it in an interactive atmosphere.
Cornell University Summer College for High School Students
Cornell University's precollege programs give high school students the chance to benefit from an Ivy League education before they apply to or attend college. Whether you're participating in our Summer Residential Program or taking a course online, you'll experience what sets our offerings apart—studying with Cornell faculty, learning in regular undergraduate-level courses, and earning real college credit for your work.
Crimson Summer at Harvard University
Over the course of three consecutive summers, 30 students from public schools in Boston, Cambridge and Somerville engage in a stimulating mix of classes, projects, and cultural activities as they prepare for success in college and beyond. Students live on campus during the week and return home on the weekends. The program is free and students receive a stipend. Upon completing the 3 year program, students receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Davidson College July Experience
July Experience is a rigorous three-week pre-college program for rising high school juniors and seniors. Join other students from across the United States and around the world and take two courses taught by full-time Davidson faculty, live in residence halls, attend workshops about the college admission process, and participate in Davidson traditions.
Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Programs-Explorers
Pre-K through 3rd Grade classes build a strong foundation so that our youngest future leaders are equipped to explore the world and its possibilities. Explorer classes are held on 8 Saturdays in the Spring semester (February through April) and in the Fall (September through November). Explorer topics include: astronomy, biology, hydrology, earth & natural science, physics, engineering (chemical, electrical, and mechanical), and technology. Must live in Southeast Michigan to participate.
Edge on Science
Rising 3rd to 12th grade students can choose from Drone & Code, Microscope Adventures, Space Science, Bridge Building, Super Science Sampler, Whales n’ Things, Catapult Engineering, Summer Rocket Blast Off, 3D Printing & Design and the Hydraulics Makerspace. These are project coding and modeling. 10th to 12th grade students may apply for Counselor in Training positions.

Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program
DAPCEP (Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program) is an educational 501(c)3 organization providing high quality and standards-aligned science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programming to youth in metropolitan Detroit. Must live in Southeast Michigan to participate.
Emagination
Emagination’s MA Summer Camps at Boston College for ages 8-17 include Computer Camp, Minecraft Coding Camp, Game Design Camp. Located in MA at Bentley University.
LEAH Knox Scholars Program
The Leaders through Education, Action and Hope (LEAH) Project’s mission is to cultivate the power of youth to transform their lives and communities through science, education, and service. LEAH is a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), college readiness, and workforce development program for low-income high school students of color.
The NIH-SEPA-funded LEAH Knox Scholars Biomedical Research track addresses this workforce issue by attracting and supporting a diverse group of top science students from school systems in the Greater Boston area including: Boston, Cambridge, and Everett high schools.
The LEAH Project
The Leaders through Education, Action and Hope (LEAH) Project is a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), college access, and career readiness program for Boston area youth typically underrepresented in STEM fields (low-income youth, youth of color, first generation college youth). The LEAH Project aims to diversify the STEM workforce by engaging youth of color in dynamic STEM, college readiness, and workforce development programming that empowers them to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM fields. Participating youth have access to a variety of STEM-focused paid internship opportunities including LEAH's hallmark STEM teaching internships, LEAH Knox Scholars Biomedical Research internships, and general STEM internships.
MEDscience @ Harvard Medical School
HMS MEDScience Summer is a one-week summer science course for high school students held at Harvard Medical School. Work a week-long shift in the MEDscience ‘Emergency Room’ at Harvard Medical School. Train in our state-of-the-art medical simulation emergency room to evaluate, diagnose and treat acutely ill patients in our immersive, one-week, full-day program. Learn and practice clinical skills like suturing, intubation, and inserting IV’s. Open to international students.
Harvard Medical School-MEDscience TeleMED
Harvard Medical School MEDscience teleMED Online Program offers high school students with interests in science, medicine or healthcare an online active learning environment where they are immersed in realistic, dynamic, simulated medical emergencies. Students learn clinical skills and explore healthcare careers hearing from various medical professionals in the field. Our one-week, full-day, program motivates students to think critically, problem-solve, and work effectively in teams.
Harvard Medical School-MEDscienceLAB
MEDscienceLAB offers students interested in biotech, biology, or medicine inspiring, immersive, hands-on lab and clinical experience that tie the essential role of research to clinical medicine. Students learn what happens when tests ‘go to the lab’ and how research labs work to solve medical cases.

NUSSP is a free (after $50 acceptance fee) academic program run by the Center for STEM Education, which takes an active role in shaping education in students entering grades 6, 7, and 8.
Northeastern University Young Scholars Program
YSP offers future scientists and engineers a unique opportunity for a hands-on research experience while still in high school. This free program is open to Massachusetts residents (within commuter distance) who have completed their junior year of high school (i.e. rising seniors).
National Society of Black Engineers-SEEK
SEEK is a free, three-week summer program that offers a fun and engaging educational experience for students in grades 3–5. SEEK aims to provide high-quality learning opportunities to underrepresented students who otherwise may not have access to a robust STEM education.

Suffolk University Upward Bound
Upward Bound (UB) at Suffolk University is a federally funded program under the Department of Education that seeks to increase college access and educational opportunities for first-generation and/or low-income students. Our focus is on college acceptance and attendance, and all students are supported through graduation from high school. Suffolk University Upward Bound services a total of 65 students from 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade each academic school year. Students must be Dorchester residents or students at Dorchester Academy or Tech Boston Academy

United Nations Association of Greater Boston Summer Institute in Global Leadership
The United Nations Association of Greater Boston's Summer Institute in Global Leadership brings international issues to life for teens in the Greater Boston area. Facilitated at locations such as Harvard University, Belmont Day School, and Simmons University, students hear from experts in the field, receive training from professional negotiators, and end the week with a Model UN simulation. Each week, students are introduced to a challenging global problem relevant to the world today, such as climate change, human rights, or global health. As they uncover facts, hear from influential guest speakers, and discover unique perspectives on the problem, students emulate the role of civic leaders eager to make the world a better place. By the end of the week, students have become experts on the issue and are ready to develop solutions. Using Model UN as a platform for debate, students step into the role of international leaders from different nations to negotiate solutions to be voted on. Programs are open to students from grades 5 through 12, depending on the program week. This event is not owned, controlled, supervised, or sponsored by Harvard University or any of its schools or programs.

The Business of Doing Good
The Business of Doing Good is a social entrepreneur program for middle school students. Empow Studios
Empow Studios is open to children who have completed grades 1 to 8 at the time of the session. Empow runs two types of camps: Tech & Design Camps and Minecraft Camps. Tech & Design camps feature robotics, 2D & 3D video game design, virtual reality (VR) game design, animation, programming / coding, 3D modeling & printing, audio engineering, and music production. Minecraft camps feature modding, electrical engineering (via redstone circuits), architecture, game design, and world creation.
Environmental Science Program
The Environmental Science Program is open to students who will be entering grades 7, 8, 9, or 10 by September 2016. The Environmental Science program combines fun outdoor activities with learning about the environment. Each year it builds on the "peer education" principle by having the student leaders design, develop, and deliver the materials that the students use.

Public Speaking Institute
For students entering 4th-8th grade in Fall of 2016, this program is designed to help students build confidence in their public speaking skills. The Public Speaking Institute trains students in public speaking, logic and rhetoric through an interactive and dynamic curriculum that encourages incremental progress through ongoing practice and exercise. Over the course of the program, students will participate in three main courses: Debate, Persuasive Speaking, and an elective.

A free, eight-year, academic program that gets low-income public high school students to and through college–with a 90% college graduation rate. 100% of SEO Scholars are accepted to four-year colleges, with 85% being first-generation college graduates. The Smith Summer Science and Engineering Program (SSEP) is a four-week, residential program for exceptional young women with strong interests in science, engineering and medicine. Girls who will be in high school (grades 9-12) in the fall are eligible to apply for the summer program. Applications must be received by April 1 for a discount on your full program payment.

Trinity Education for Excellence Program (TEEP)
Empowering students to achieve excellence, both inside and outside of the classroom. At the heart of TEEP is a 5 week intensive summer program during which rising 7th and 8th graders focus on academics in the morning (math, language arts, music, fine art, and computer skills) and enrichment activities, like field trips, in the afternoon. This is a tuition-free, out-of-school-time character and leadership development program available to Massachusetts residents.

Tutoring Plus advances educational equity by supporting youth in their academic, personal and social growth through free, individualized tutoring, mentoring and enrichment programs.
U-Design at BU
U-Design is a fun, exciting science and engineering program for kids who are currently in grades 6 - 9 at time of registration. It is a hands-on laboratory and workshop experience that gives you the opportunity to learn about science and technology by engaging in the real work of scientists and engineers: design, exploration, experimentation, and invention.
UMass Boston - Noble & Greenough Math and Science Upward Bound
The UMass Boston-Noble and Greenough School Upward Bound Math-Science Program (UBMS) is year-round program, serving 72 high school students with promising academic records and a desire to improve their future prospects. UBMS specifically identifies students interested in math and science who wish to pursue advanced study and careers in related fields. Our students come from Lawrence, Massachusetts, primarily from Lawrence High School. In addition to meeting family income and educational qualifications, candidates must demonstrate the potential to succeed in an accelerated math/science program, as well as the ability and desire to work hard.
UMass Boston Upward Bound
Upward Bound is an intensive, year-round college-preparatory program. Our mission is to assist low-income, first-generation college bound high school students in the successful completion of secondary education and prepare them academically and socially for enrollment and completion of higher education. This is accomplished by providing participants with rigorous and nurturing academic courses; tutoring services; college-preparatory workshops; academic, college, and financial aid advising; career exploration; leadership opportunities; and cultural enrichment. Upward Bound offers services to students through an after-school program and monthly cohort meetings at UMass Boston during the school year and a six-week residential academic program at Anna Maria College during the summer.
UNAGB's Summer Institute in Global Leadership
The United Nations Association of Greater Boston's Summer Institute in Global Leadership brings international issues to life for teens in the Greater Boston area. Facilitated at locations such as Harvard University, Belmont Day School, and Simmons University, students hear from experts in the field, receive training from professional negotiators, and end the week with a Model UN simulation. Each week, students are introduced to a challenging global problem relevant to the world today, such as climate change, human rights, or global health. As they uncover facts, hear from influential guest speakers, and discover unique perspectives on the problem, students emulate the role of civic leaders eager to make the world a better place. By the end of the week, students have become experts on the issue and are ready to develop solutions. Using Model UN as a platform for debate, students step into the role of international leaders from different nations to negotiate solutions to be voted on. Programs are open to students from grades 5 through 12, depending on the program week. This event is not owned, controlled, supervised, or sponsored by Harvard University or any of its schools or programs.
Worcester Polytech Pre-collegiate Programs
In the Launch program for rising 9th and 10th grade students will leverage research and technology to find solutions to current problems in a variety of scientific fields alongside WPI’s renowned faculty. The Frontiers program, running for over 40 years, is a residential, overnight program for rising 11th and 12th grade students who want to explore STEM through a collegiate lens. They also offer STEM programs for middle schoolers and programs just for girls.
HSSP
With over sixty years of history, HSSP is a multi-weekend program where hundreds of middle/high schoolers come to take classes, both academic and non-academic, at MIT. Join us for many days of learning anything and everything! HSSP is fully student-run by MIT ESP. It is held once during spring and once during summer.
